1000 Followers Challenge: Tip #9 Geotag your IG Stories and Posts

May 9, 2018

This is one of my favorite things to do b/c I literally travel the world WITHOUT traveling the world!

Lets get into how I do this.

What is a geotag?

Geotagging is a technical term for storing the latitude and longitude of your current location with your photo. This data is collected by the GPS device in your phone or tablet and is accessible to Instagram if you grant permission.

You can also geotag your own location with each Instagram post and Instagram story.

Benefits of Geotagging?

  • Allows you to be seen by other users than the ones that already follow you

  • You can use your analytics to find out the popular spots and where most of your engagement is coming from and geotag THAT location

  • Your whole spectrum of viewers opens up and you get to network with others in those locations

  • Geotagging your posts increases engagement up to 79 percent

  • You can potentially meet people at the location where you tagged yourself, more networking opportunities!
